the royal oak

We are all time poor nowadays and here at The Oak, we understand better than most. So, to help you reserve your table more easily, we are now working with the very nice people at ResDiary, enabling you to book online and have your table confirmed instantly.

Of course we would still love to hear from you and especially if you have any particular requirements. Therefore if you would rather talk to a human being (or one of the team!) then please call 01628 48 86 11 and we will look after your reservation personally.

And finally - should our clever little widget say "no tables available" it is definitely worth giving us a call or, even better still, just come on down. Being a pub, we always have tables outside or in the bar on a first come, first served basis and we will ensure you get seated just as quickly as possible.

Here at the Royal Oak we want everyone to enjoy our pretty, 16th Century pub and garden.  We understand it’s not always the easiest place to get around, so we’ve put some thought into the planning, design and layout.  To help you plan your visit here’s a few things you may need to know.

Visitors have a choice of entrances - front door, side/snug entrance, garden entrance with a double door and a ramped entrance via the garden terrace.

If steps are an issue for you, you may want to pull up to the front entrance and access that way.  (door width is 28”) and wheelchair access is via the terrace entrance which has a ramp and door width of 32”.  There is a low, kerbed step up to the terrace from the car park.

As pub car parks go ours is pretty spacious, with designated reduced mobility parking spaces towards the rear car park, next to the garden.

The main bar area is on one level, with tiled and wooden flooring and flexible seating/table arrangements.  Tables and chairs can be laid out to suit a variety of needs.  Access to the toilet facilities is also on this level, which includes a spacious, unisex disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.

There is one step up to the small, carpeted dining room and one low level step in the snug area leading to the side door.

As a dog friendly pub you may need to be aware of our four-legged friends sat at their master’s feet and by tables.  It does mean, of course, that disability assistance dogs are very welcome.
