Our 5th annual charity bike ride - Pedal of Honour - took place on 16th May over 52 (very) hilly miles! So far we have raised in excess of £15k for 3 wonderful local hospices, so a huge thank you goes out to all the wonderful folk who took part, sponsored, supported and contributed on the day.
Thanks and Chapeau!
From the banks of the Thames take the short trip up the winding hill to Bovingdon Green and the warm, wooden heart of award-winning The Royal Oak.
Oak by name and oaken by nature - but not hard or austere: not a bit of it.
Bare floorboards and ancient timbers ooze bonhomie, it feels like someone's home - it might as well be yours for the time you are there. Like old friends visiting for dinner, the welcome is easy and relaxed. It's journey's end.
Inside, The Oak's organic interior reveals the nooks and crannies where intimacy is assured and larger tables ar left to revel in the limelight. You'll find a snug with wood burning stove, a rosy red dining room and glowing dark floorboards. Rich fabrics and heritage colours create a warm background.
Beyond the panelled bar the gardens stretch back, and back - perfect for lazy summer afternoons watching the Red Kites soar overhead. Step through the gap in the fence and there’s even a pentanque pitch tucked behind. With glass in hand and a menu to savour it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of Marlow's riverside.
Book for dinner or bag a table on the off chance, it’s your choice. Rarely does anyone leave hungry or thirsty.
Up here, in The Oak's leafy embrace, life is more measured and reflective, relax - you have arrived.
Smaller plates for smaller people and great “roasts” on Sundays!
